SyrianJoy is founded in 2016 by the couple Mohammed Nakawa and Abeer Tinbakji. Mohammed grew up in Damascus and has always loved to cook and experiment and learn how to cook new dishes. This passion has led him to develop Syrian food with a novel twist, successfully combining Damascus-typical cuisine with his own ideas.
Before leaving Syria, Mohammed was running an interior design firm with over thirty employees. After arriving to the Netherlands, Mohammed took on the role as chef in the asylum seekers centre at Mauritskade.

Syrian cuisine is the traditional cuisine of the Levant, known in Arabic as the Bilad al-Sham and Mashriq, which covers a large area of the Eastern Mediterranean.
Syrian cuisine is famous for many dishes, using mostly spices which can be found in the region and vegetables grown locally.
We, at Syrian Joy, use authentic spices found in the Levant and do our best to choose the best ingredients and vegetables to prepare our dishes. We want to bring you the Syrian Joy!
